Au Pair Requirements for France

🔞 1. Age Requirements

• You must be between 18 and 30 years old.

• Some countries (especially EU/EEA) may allow up to 30, others up to 26 depending on visa agreements.

🌍 2. Nationality

🌐 If you are from a non-EU country:

• You must apply for a long-stay "au pair" visa (Visa de long séjour – stagiaire aide familial(e)).

• You’ll need:

  • A valid passport

  • An au pair contract approved by the French DIRECCTE (labor department)

  • Proof of sufficient education level (high school diploma or higher)

  • Basic knowledge of French

  • Enrollment in French language classes once in France

📄 3. Au Pair Contract (Convention au pair)

• Must be signed by both the host family and the au pair.

• Must be approved by French authorities before applying for the visa.

• It sets expectations for:

  • Working hours (maximum 25–30 hours/week)

  • Pocket money (typically €320–€400/month)

  • Duties and responsibilities

  • Time off (at least 1 full day per week)
